Fatigu Personal computer gamer defends AMD's store from bots and gets a freeborn T-shirt
The State of PC building is tragic of late. Bots let been called every bit one reason it's so damn difficult to buy a GPU at the moment. With vulnerabilities stillness rampant in manufacturers online stores—AMD particularly has had problems containing the issue—it's no wonder there's still not sufficiency graphics cards to outflank.
While that's not the entire story, we have to commend those working to overcome the onslaught of bots buying up entirely the GPUs at in one case.
One much right-hand coder World Health Organization unclothed gaps in AMD's anti-bot measures, shared their story in a reddit Charles William Post. They explain that, over cardinal weeks of testing and code development, they were not only able to get around the store's opposed-bot measures—through some reverse-engineering on the web store—they also managed to expose the product's stock levels, too.
Thankfully they brought the vulnerability to AMDs attention, which has immediately been fixed, and in their post aforementioned "Hopefully that's uncomparable fewer transmitter for scalpers to buy GPUs exploitation bots. Good luck to everyone for upcoming drops!" Comments like this point to their original intent being benign, so we hope they enjoy their free Tee shirt from AMD for reporting the issue, when they could've just oversubscribed the code on.
Hopefully this should interpret into some of us managing to bag a Radeon RX 6800 XT, Oregon similar.
It's dependable retailers and manufacturers have been trying everything to alleviate the GPU stock crisis, including luring cryptocurrency miners away from gaming GPU stock with unaccustomed mining convergent cards, as well as adding manufacturing queues among a plenty of other attempts. But, refine at the basic supply level, there are still component shortages making it real rough. With no components, you can't make GPUs. Simple as.
So, despite wholly the pushback, the GPU shortfall is expected to continue for much of this year. Still, thankfully in that respect are hoi polloi kayoed there fighting our corner and actually coverage vulnerabilities, as opposed to selling the code to famished cryptocurrency miners.
